In 2001, he moved to AstraZeneca and following a period in R&D project management became Head of Process Engineering in 2008. He subsequently moved into more senior roles in drug product development before taking his current role in 2013. He is a Director of the BRITEST consortia and a member of the EPSRC Centre of Innovative Manufacturing Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation Industrial Steering and Advisory Boards. Jon-Paul is a Fellow of the IChemE, was awarded the IChemE Hanson Medal for his article on “10 things chemists should know about engineers” is currently on IChemE council and IChemE Technical VP.
Jon-Paul has had a very active role supporting collaboration between industry and academia, particularly in the areas of physical processing, small scale continuous manufacturing and pharmaceutical process development and is a Visiting Professor at University of Manchester.
